February 1st is a great time to start asking questions about your pets health, especially regarding teeth. One of the most important part of your pets health is their teeth. One way to know if they are not healthy is sign of bad odor, which could lead to potential damage not only to your pets teeth and gums but also to their internal organs as well. Your pets teeth should be checked at least once a year. If you notice any abnormal behavior, meaning out of the ordinary, you should have your veterinary doctor check your pet. These unusual behaviors may include abnormal chewing, drooling, or dropping food from the mouth, reduced appetite or refusal to eat, and your pet experiencing pain in or around the mouth.

Tips for keeping your pet’s teeth healthy:

  • Frequent removal of the dental plaque and tartar that forms on teeth
  • Regularly brushing your pet’s teeth between dental cleanings
  • The use of pet dental products (talk with your veterinary doctor before purchase and use on pet)
